St. Petersburg, FL---Nov 9, 2001

The Yankees season came to an end at the hands of the Murfreesboro Mudcats losing 8-3. The Yankees murdered the ball today but it seems every hard hit ball found a Mudcat Glove. The game was a one run contest through 6, The Mudcats went out on top with 2 in the 1st and 2 more in the 3rd on an error, Rick Fishers' 20th homerun cut it to 4-2, the Yanks threatened big but scored only once and left the basses loaded in the 6th.

The Yankees 2001 Fall Classic comes to an end finishing at 5-2, (5th place overall), and as the Division # 3 Champion.

St. Petersburg, FL---Nov 9, 2001

The Yankees came out on fire scoring 6 runs on six hits in the first and built up a 10 - 0 lead and cruised to a 10-7 victory over the Gulf Coast Devil Rays in first round play-off action. Vinny DePeri went 4 2/3 scorless innings for the win. Bobby Simmons led the Yankees with three hits.

The Yankees will take on Murfreesboro Mudcats, winner of division # 2 at Devil Rays # 2.

Clearwater, FL---Nov 8, 2001

After securing Division # 3 the Yankees cleared the bench as they took on the Peachtree Orioles. The Yanks came up short in this one losing in the bottom of the ninth 10-9. Eddie CunninghamSteve Slava got the loss in releif. Vinny DePeri, Trey Mitchell, Dean Pallotta & Will Wilson each had 2 hits for the Yanks.

The Yankees will take on Wildcard Gulf Coast Devil Rays tomorrow 9:05 AM at Devil Rays # 3 in first round Play-off action.


Clearwater, FL---Nov 8, 2001

The Yankees are the Division # 3 winners as they defeated the Northern Ohio Team here today. The Yankees came back from an 11 run deficite to secure their first ever title in the Florida Fall Classic, Tim Nargi picked up the win in relief and Rick Fisher came on to save the game for the Yanks. Will Wilson hit his tenth homerun of the year and Steve Salcva drove in 5 runs for the Yankee win.

The Yankees take on the Peachtree Orioles, at 12:45PM at Carpenter.


Winter Haven, FL---Nov 7, 2001

The Yankees did it again winning another one run game as they defeated the Syracuse Indians 8-7 behind a great pitching perfomance by Trey Mitchell. Tim Nargi went 3 for 4 on the day to lead the Yankee offense and Mark Ashby, Rick Fisher, Bobby Simmons & Will Wilson each had 2 hits.

Extended Coverage:

Tim Nargi singled in the first and scored on Rick Fishers hit to put the Yankees ahead. Syracuse pushed 2 across in their half to take a 2-1 lead. In the Yankee second Mark Ashby got things started with hit up the middle, Dean Pallotta drew a walk and three consecutive hits by Bobby Simmons, Steve Salva & Myke Rivera pushed 4 more runs across then Tim Nargi & Rick Fisher got their second hits ogf the game to drive home 2 more for a Yankee 7-2 lead.

Trey Mitchell took the hill for the Yankees and went 8 2/3 yielding only 2 earned runs striking out 6, Rick Fisher came in to get the last out for the save and the Yankees 3rd win of the tournament.

The Yankees take on Northern Ohio, 9AM and the Peachtree Orioles, 12:45PM in a double header tomorrow at Carpenter.


St. Petersburg, FL---Nov 6, 2001

The Yankees won a close won over the Chicago Oaks here today 7-5. Vinny DePeri went 8 innings yeilding only 3 runs on 7 hits to get the win. Dave Shadbar went 3 for 3 and Will Wilson & Rick Fisher each had 2 hits to help the Yanks cause. Yankee defense was also stellar today committing no errors to secure the win.

Extended Coverage:

The Yankees got a run across in the top of the first on a double steal attempt as Jerry Davis made it home for the Yankees first run of the game. The Yankees then exploded for 5 runs in the 4th as Tim Nargi got things started lining a single into center, Will Wilson then doubled to left-center and Rick Fisher drove home both runners with a single also to left-center and moved up to 2nd on the throw, Fisher moved up to third on a passed ball then took home on a wild pitch. The inning continued as Bobby Simmons drew a walk then Dean Pallotta doubled home Simmons, Dave Shadbar caped off the inning singling home Pallotta.
The Yankees got their final run as Jerome Wilson walked, moved to third on a Mark Ashby single and scored on a fielders choice.
Vinny DePeri went 8 complete keeping Chicago off balance striking out 4. Vinny only got into trouble once in the third inning on timley Chicago Oaks 2 out hits for 3 runs.

Yankees take on the Syracuse Indians, (1-1), next; 1:30 pm Wednesday at Chain of Lakes Stadium.


Clearwater, FL---Nov 5, 2001

The Yankees took their first game in the Florida Fall Classic downing the New York Dodgers 10-4. Will Wilson drove home 5 runs to lead the Yanks offensively. Rick Fisher went the distance striking out 6 on the way.

Extended Coverage:

New York got out to an early 4-0 lead by the top of the third, The Yankees got back in the game with three runs in the bottom of the third because New York pitching got wild, Steve Salva, Mark Ashby & Tim Nargi were all hit-by-pitch and Jerome Wilson walked, Will Wilson got the only hit of the inning to drive in 2 runs but it was enough to bring the Yanks within 1 (4-3). The Yankees got things rolling in the 5th, Jerome Wilson singled, Mark Ashby & Tim Nargi walked then Will Wilson cleared the basses with a double of the left field wall, Wilson moved up to third on the throw then Rick Fisher drove him home for the Yankees 4th run of the inning and a 7-4 lead. The Yanks added 2 more runs in the 7th, Mark Ashby singled, Jimmy Brewer walked, Trey Mitchell singled Ashby scored on an errant throw but Brewer was tagged out at the plate. On the play Mitchell moved up to second, Tim Nargi then sinlged home Mitchell. The final Yankee run came from a single by Myke Rivera who was driven home on a Steve Salva double.

Rick Fisher pitched a complete game allowing only 8 hits while striking out 6, Fisher was the victim early by a couple of seeing eye balls for the Dodgers only runs, New York batters only reached 3rd base twice from the forth inning on.

Yankees take on the Chicago Oaks, (1-0), next; 1:30 pm Tuesday at Devil Rays # 2.

The Yankees will play in Division #3 of the Central League in this years MSBL Florida Fall Classic.

Northern Ohio Baseball Club
Peachtree City Orioles
Syracuse Indians
The Yankees will play each team once from Monday through Thursday, with play-offs beginning on Friday.

Play-off Format:
Each Division and runner up advance from the 5 divisions and 2 Wildcards from the 2 best records remaining from all 5 divisions for a total of 12 teams.
At the completion of the 1st round , 6 teams will remain. The 2 teams with the best round robin record will receive a bye and advance to the Semi-Finals.
