Atlantic City, NJ---May 26, 2002

Well the rain finally did in the tournament as no fields were playable for the Championship game between Del-Val and the PW Yankees. There was no precedent for the game not being played nor was there an official tie-breaker so technically there was a tie for 1st since the game was not played. Del-Val was awarded the cup based upon Pool play.

Atlantic City, NJ---May 25, 2002

New Yankee hurler Eddie Lamarr came out of the Bull-pen in NY and proceeded to mow down the Middlesex Bears and limited them to 1 unearned run as the Yanks pounded away on Bear pitching for a 14-1 win and a trip to the Championship game.

The Yankees got another homerun from Gauch and Frye and Fisher got his first of the Tournament. Fisher (1b,1b,hr), Gauch (1b,2b,hr) and Nargi (1b,2b,3b) all had three hits to lead the Yanks on the 17 hit parade.

Yanks 7 - Tri-State 4

Jon Bybee settled down after 2 innings and shut down the Tri-State Titans the rest of the way before yielding to Stoney Frye and the Yanks won this must win game 7-4.  The Yankees put 2 up in the top of the first but the offense stalled on the Titan pitching until the sixth when Joe Vadala, (2 hits), lead off with a single, Nargi put down a drag bunt for a hit and Somerindyke walked to load the bases for Fisher.  Fisher's Sac fly tied it up at 3 then Barry Gauch, (2 hits), doubled to break open the game and what turned out to be a 5 run Yankee 6th to take the lead for good.

Yankee Starter Jon Bybee struggled for 2 innings having not pitched yet this season surrendering 3 runs, but after that Jon found his form and kept the Titans off the score board before developing a blister. Stoney Frye came in to shut it down only yielding a run on a double play the Yanks failed to get.

Defensively Right fielder Stoney Frye threw out a runner at the plate to end the titan 2nd and the rally. Barry Gauch also picked off a Titan base runner at second that all but put the dagger into the Titian offense.

Del-Val 12 - PWY 9

More Wind and Rain in this one as the Yanks let one get away blowing a 7 run lead in the 7th inning and then losing on a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs.  the Yanks moved out to a 9-2 lead behind Barry Gauch's 2 Homeruns, but the Yankee defensive substitutions made miscue after miscue in the Del-Val 7th to allow the inning to continue, then Yankee pitching gave up 2 bombs thus allowing 6 runs to cross the plate.

Wasted in all this mess was Stoney Frye's first homerun of the Tourney that easily traveled 450 feet.  Fisher suffered the loss but it was the bullpen that faltered for the first time this season.

Atlantic City, NJ---May 24, 2002

PW Yankees 15 - Cumberland Stars 6

On a muddy Field and a driving rain and a 20 mph wind, the Yanks overcame the elements and took the first game of the tournament 15-6. Second Baseman Joe Vadala lead the offense in the lead-off position going 3 for 4 with a double, Rick Fisher, 2 doubles, and Jon Bybee also had 3 hits apiece for the Yanks. Rick Fisher got the win.
