Every starting Yankee had a hit in the line up, DH Steve D'Aquila with 2 doubles, and 1B Mike Kay, who drove in the 1st run of the game, each added 3 hits apiece. The Yankees finally broke through on Dale City's starting pitcher Newton in the Eighth; Mike Kay led off with a walk. with Robbie Kloehn pinch-running for Kay and with Rich Abela at the plate the Yankees executed the "Ricky Henderson" play, with Kloehn stealing on the pitch Abela laid down a perfect sac bunt that was fielded by the Blues 3B Boyd and on the throw to get Abela, Kloehn came all the way around safely to 3rd base with only 1 out.
