Abysmal performance
The Yankees
can't seem to play big when they need to,
once again in a game that put a title on the line they produced
nothing. 2 more errors, no hitting, no productive outs with runners
on base and not getting a big out when needed led to their
dismantling by Ermi's Baseball Club tonight; 11-1 . The
typical Yankee sources of production were there but it was not
enough because the Yankees typical non-producers was there as well
as has plagued them through out the entire season. The Yankee
Spring season is over and they finish with their worst Spring record
ever at 16-10. |

Wasted pitching
effort
David Beckner pitched a brilliant game, he scattered only 4 hits,
struck out 5, walked none, unfortunately this was all wasted as the
Yankees committed 3 errors leading to two Ermi's runs and supplied
no offense whatsoever only managing three hits on the day thus
dropping Game 1 of of the best of three series against Ermi's

Cooperstown, NY---July

Championship Title !!
The Prince William Yankees have captured their 3rd Cooperstown
Championship defeating the Staten Island Bombers 6-4 at Double Day
Field.
Will Somerindyke pitched a complete game for the victory, the
Yankees got on the board first powered by a Chip Kislack Homer to
left field. The Yankees opened up the 4th inning with a bunt single
by LF Jamien Payne and a walk by SS Tim Nargi followed by 3B Logan
Springers single, the big blow then came from C Barry Gauch who
tripled to right and the Yanks took a 4-0 lead. The 5th inning
saw more power from the Yankees as DH Rob Pettigrue homered to left
moving the Yankees ahead 5-0.
Staten Island did not lay down an mounted a 3 run 7th inning to
trim the Yankee lead to 2, the Staten Island eighth saw a homer by
Jay Parisi and the Yankee lead was only 5-4, Staten Island then put
runners on 1st and 2nd when the Yankees turned an interesting double
play to get out of the inning, Somerindyke fielded a grounder then
nearly threw it away but shortstop Tim Nargi scooped it up and threw
on to Jon Bybee at first who scooped the low throw and wend the
Staten Island threat.
With the Yankee lead now trimmed to 1 run ion the 7th Rob
Pettigrue came through with a clutch 2 out 2 strike single to left
giving the Yankees an insurance run and lead 6-4. Staten Island
would not go away and mounted yet another threat in the 8th, with
one out and 2 on a ground ball to 2nd baseman Matt Huff which looked
like a routine double play nearly turned disastrous as Mat threw the
ball wild to Nargi covering but he managed to dive and come up with
the ball and get the out and end the threat.
Matt Huff recovered and got the final out of the game
giving the Yankees their third Hall of Fame Classic Title.
The Tournament Officials named DH Rob Pettigrue MVP for his
2 for 3 game including the homerun and clutch 2 out hit to secure
the win, they named SS Tim Nargi the Gold Glove winner for the
above mentioned plays and several other stops he made denying Staten
Island players singles.

Big come from behind
Victory
The Yankees down 6-0 scored 7 unanswered runs for a come from behind
victory here at the Stadium last night.
The Yankees got into an early hole against the Potomac Hawks
Thursday Night but Steve D'Aquila's 2 out RBI base hit completed the
Yankee comeback in the bottom of the 9th to defeat the 1st place
Potomac Hawks 7-6 and move the Yanks to within 1/2 game of the
leaders.
Yankee starting pitcher Steve D'Aquila had a rough outing as Jose
Pabon, put the Hawks up 2-0 with a mammoth homerun to dead center
field over the 400 sign in the top of the 1st. Potomac struck for 3
more in the 2nd as Calvin Dent tripled, Chance Mistric and Clements
singled to make it 5-0 Hawks. They tacked on another run in the 5th
with 3 straight singles for Clements, Drake and Mike Walkowiak for a
6-0 Hawk lead and they looked like they were cruising to an easy
victory.
The Yankees were harmless at the plate through 4, but in the 5th Jon
Bybee hustling infield single with 2 outs plated the Yankees first
run of the night. Manager Tim Nargi went to the bullpen as D'Aquila
gave way to Jon Bybee, Bybee gave the Yanks what they needed with a
1-2-3 inning in the 6th and 7th thus finally shutting down the
Potomac offense.
D'Aquila started his revenge at the plate leading off the 7th with a
double to center, CF Brian Tirch reached on an error, the Yankee 2B
Robbie Kloehn drove home DAQ to cut the lead to 6-2, later in the
inning Barry Gauch singled scoring Tirch and at the end of 7 the
Yanks had halved the Hawks lead 6-3.
In the Yankee 8th RF Craig Kaufman double to left to lead things
off, Steve D'Aquila picked up his 2nd hit and Kloehn walked to load
the bases to set the stage for the comeback, with 2 out SS Tim
Nargi stepped up to the plate with the bases full and promptly
singled to right for 2 RBI's cutting the lead to 6-5, Kloehn moved
to third on the hit and he scored on the next pitch as shaken Hawks
pitcher Mistric released a wild pitch.
The Hawks did threaten in the top of the 9th with a lead off double,
but after a sacrifice to move the runner to third, Jon Bybee got
Walkowiak to pop up to 2nd, Pabon was intentionally walked and Vera
grounded out weakly to 2nd to end the threat, this set up the final
revenge of the night for Steve D'Aquila.
Barry Gauch lead off the 9th with hit second hit of the night, Tirch
ran for Gauch, and on a 0-2 count Tirch took off for 2nd and DH
George Adam singled over the vacated shortstop position to move
Tirch to third. Hawks pitcher Mistric did manage to strike out the
next two Yankee hitters, but that's when Steve D'Aquila came to the
plate and completed the Yankee comeback as he collected his third
and biggest hit of the night lining the 1st pitch to right field
scoring Tirch for a Yankee 7-6 victory.

Snakes and Rain
The Yankees held of the pesky Diamondbacks 6-4 in
10 innings Saturday ion sometimes heavy rain behind Dave Beckner's
complete game effort. Dave struggled on a rain slicked mound
but still managed to strike out 13.
With poor field conditions the D'backs
capitalized on a few Yankee errors to tie the game up in the 7th
when the heavy rains came causing a 30 minute delay, the Yankees
went quietly in the 8th and 9th, but the Diamondbacks threatened in
both innings but Steve D'Aquilas spectacular play saved the game for
the Yankees. Wth D'Backs on 1st and 3rd with 1 out, the runner
at first broke for 2nd for an attempted steal, the batter hit a
rocket up the middle but 2nd baseman Steve D'Aquila was able
to smoother the ball tag the runner on the way by and throw onto
first to complete the double play and not allow the D'Backs to take
the lead.
In the 10th the Yanks struck twice on Logan
Springer Double, D'Aquila single down the line followed by a George
Adam Double.
