Walk-Off
with the Division
The Yankees clinched the Division Title with a
walk-off HR in the 10th inning off the bat of Devan Ewell.
As the iron man of the team Adam Kearny went all
10 innings to earn the win, Gary Marean came off the bench to go
5 for 5 on the day.
The Yankees fell behind early do to sloppy play
for a 2nd consecutive game, but they buckled up and scored three
run in the 3rd taking advantage of a Blues blunder to take a 3-2
lead, both teams traded runs later, and the picked up one more
run on one of Gary's hit to take a 5-3 lead into the 9th.
But once again the Yankee defense faltered, a couple errors
later and the Blues had tied it up, This time the Yanks
didn't roll over, in the 9th the ynkas threatened with a Miller
walk and Nargi single, Marean singled home Miller but a great
defensive play by the Blues cut Miller down at the plate for
bonus "cantos". The Blues were set down in
order in the 10th, with one out this set the Stage for Devan
Ewell. Devan crushed one to left that had no doubt as it easily
cleared the 15 foot high second fence by a good 20 feet, the
Yanks held on and clinched the Division Title. |

Ugly; but a Win.
Defensively the Yanks lapsed
several times committing 3 errors that lead to 4 Black Sox runs,
but clutch hitting including a 2 run 2 out single from 3b Tim
Nargi, a 2 run HR from Devan Ewell and a solo shot from Logan
Springer was just enough to hold off the Sox as the Yanks
prevailed 8-5 at South County in this Saturday Evening tilt. |

Defensive Gem.
Yankees flashed the leather Friday
Nite at the Stadium to secure win #2 on the young season over the
Grand Slam Indians. Todd Musher made his return to the mound
fo his first start in 1 1/2 years, Todd looked like hi old self
surrendering only 1 run over 4, Dan Eadie came on and promptly shut
down the Indians with 1-2-3 inning the rest of the way striking out
7.
RF Fede Brooks was the Yanks catalyst on offense,
laying down a perfect bunt single that forced th e Indians to
throw the ball away and the Yanks scored 2 to take the lead, Fed
later scored on Tim Nargi Sac Fly to right for a Yanks 3-1 lead.
Yanks picked up another run in the 7th as 2b Frank Ingoglia singled
to start the inning moved up on Fed 2nd hit on the night and later
scored on a wild pitch. The Yanks tacked on one more in the 9th, 1b
George Adam drew a walk, and pinch runner and speedster Jamien Payne
came on and immediately stole 2nd, the Indian defense was pressured
with Jamien on the bases and ended up surrendering the run on yet
another wild pitch. But the night was really about defense, the
Yanks turned in no less than 3 web Gems. First Fed Brooks made a
diving catch in right field to deny 2 Indian runs, SS Devan
Ewell scooped up a shot up the middle to retire that batter, and the
biggest play of the night came form 3b Logan Springer, Spring had to
dive to his right ending up on his back side facing left field,
without getting up turned his self toward first and fired a bullet
still sitting to get the batter at first!!
