Ermi's Baseball has won the Heritage Classic going 4-0 in the process.

Congratulations to Ermi's Baseball, the 2007 Heritage Classic Champions.

The Prince William Yankees will host the 2007 Heritage Classic on March 24 through 31st.

This is a Wood Bat Tournament, 3 game minimum, 7 innings. 18 Open Division.  Umpires, included.

Ermi's Baseball took the Heritage Classic Championship by defeating the Metro Royals 9-6 at Heritage Field.

Ermi's went out to a 9-1 lead but the Royals clawed back and made it interesting scoring 3 times in the seventh before the last out was  recorded, both clubs played hard but Ermi's came out on top.

Pool A came down to the final game to determine that pools winner. The morning game saw the Potomac Hawks down the Metro Royals 6-4, the Red Sox forced a three way tie by shutting out the Fredericksburg Seminoles 5-0. With all teams tied at 2-1,. the Royals won by virtue of 2 tie-breakers. The Hawks were eliminated first by giving up the most runs (tie-breaker #2), and the Sox were eliminated by virtue of their loss to the Royals.

Over in Pool B Ermi's had already claimed the division however the Diamondbacks gave Ermi's a run for their money before bowing 2-1, Pool B saw yet another close game as the Longhorns got by the Knights 6-5.

The Heritage Classic Tournament continued today over at Freedom Hs with the Skagit Longhorns going up against Ermi's in the first game of the day, Ermi's got some good pitching and downed the Longhorns 7-2.

In the second game of the day the Longhorns had to come from behind to defeat the Diamondbacks 10-8.

The tournament continues next weekend with only 2 teams eliminated from the Championship.

The Heritage Classic Tournament got underway with 6 games today;

 

In Pool B play:

The NV Red Sox got off to a win in the first game of the Tournament turning away the Potomac Hawks 8-0.

The Metro Royals from the DC Wood league battled it out with the Red Sox and came away with a 5-3 victory.

The Hawks got in the win column in a tight ball game edging the Fredericksburg Seminoles 5-4.

and the last game of the day saw the Royals go 2-0 downing the Seminoles 7-2.

 

In Pool A play:

Over at Freedom High School the first game between the NV Knights of the DC Wood League and Ermi's Baseball (Blue & Gray) had to go extra frames after the teams battled to a 4-4 tie after the allotted 7 innings, however Ermi's pulled away in the 8th scoring 4 times and held on to win 8-4.

The second match-up saw the Knights take on the Virginia Diamondbacks, the D'Backs held the Knight's offense to only one run, however the Knights pitching and defense proved bettor and in a pitchers duel sent the Diamondbacks to defeat with a 1-0 win.

 

Games resume tomorrow with the Skagit Longhorns getting into the action taking on Ermi's and the Diamondbacks in a twin bill.

 

 

 

 

Prince William, VA---Mar 5, 2003

The Prince William Yankees will host the forth Heritage classic at Heritage Field.  This is a wood bat tournament open to any teams 18 and over.  The tournament will be 3 game minimum, cost is $400 per team, umpires included.  All proceeds are going to improvements of the field. The tournament will be held over 2 weekends.
