29, 2008 The Heritage Classic Tournament got underway with 4 games
today; with two very close and down to the wire games in the first day of action
including a sunny day made for a good opening day.
Game 2:
Ermi’s Baseball Club took on the Potomac Hawks which saw
Ermi’s edge the Hawks 6-5 in tight ball game.
Tied at 5 going into the 7th and final inning
Ermi’s managed to push a run across to take a 6-5 lead, but the hawks battled
right back and put two men on in the bottom of the 7th, but Ermi’s
managed to turn in an unorthodox double play to end the game and take the
win.
Game 3:
The DC Knights of the DC Wood NABA League battled the Blue
& Gray defending Champions also to a 5 all tie after 6 innings, the Sox failed
to score in the 7th and that set the stage for the Knights to produce
a walk-off base hit to win the game 6-5.
In The morning game Ermi’s disposed of the Lorton Phillies
11-1.
In the final game of the day the Knights shut out the
Virginia Diamondbacks 9-0
With the Knights winning both their games they clinch
the Foxhound Division
and
With Ermi’s winning both their games as well they clinch
the Dogwood Division
Games resume tomorrow with the Sox taking on the Diamondbacks , and the
Phillies hosting the Hawks.
