2011 Heritage Classic

2011 Heritage Classic: Apr 1-10

Rain really messed with the fields and the schedule this final weekend, yet all teams were very understanding and worked through it.

Frederick Flying Dogs got their half of the bracket started by blanking the Western Charles Baseball Club 9-0, they then faced the #1 see GMU Patriots and threw them a shut out drubbing them 14-0 and earning a spot in the Championship game.

The other bracket proved more exciting, the Yanks hosted the Knights , both teams pitchers threw blanks for 5 inning, the Yanks scratched a run in the 6th to take 1-0  lead, the Knights stormed back and scored 3 times to take 3-1 lead. Yanks had one more shot and it didn't look to good as they were down to their last out down by 2 when Gary Marean delivered a 2 run single with Logan Springer following with a walk-off RBI single.

The Potomac Hawks handled the Richmond Mustangs sending them packing winning 11-1 to set up a match with the Yankees.  The Hawks jumped out to a 6-2 lead and seemed to control the game. Jon Bybee launched a 2-run HR to cut that to 6-4, then Adam Kearny hit a solos shot to cut it to 1.  In the Yankees final at bat with 1 out Devan Ewell hit a monster bomb to left center to give the Yanks the lead, they tacked on 2 more runs and took this one by a final of 9-7.  This sets up the Heritage Final match-up between the Frederick Flying Dogs and the Prince William Yankees.
